Most development organisations get too close to their own products. They know that usability could be improved, but find it hard to pinpoint areas where users have the greatest difficulties. Often users themselves arent clear about their needs or expectations. Usability testing can be expensive and time-consuming, but is key to learning about critical areas for product improvement.
